In Alexander Calder at the Rijksmuseum, the artist’s monumental sculptures were displayed both in the museum and in its freely accessible outdoor gallery. Guest curator Alfred Pacquement’s selections found a perfect setting in the urban green space between the permanent classic sculpture collection of the Rijksmuseum and architect Pierre Cuypers’ neo-Gothic museum building.
